Pats Blog! 20/09/12
Hi All. I am the master of getting all excited about doing a blog and then leaving it a year but I am determined to do something every week even if it is only a few lines!

What am I up to? Well, the other day I got involved in the Tomathon, which involves Tom Moran, who owns The Red Cow Inn and Bewley's Hotels and also sponsors the Limerick senior hurling team. Tom is walking the 250km from Limerick to Dublin.

Tom was passing through Limerick on his way to Dublin to raise money for Pieta House. Pieta House has centres in Dublin and Limerick and deals with the prevention of self-harm and suicide. When I say Tom is passing through, I should point out that he is walking with some followers. It is a great cause and a great commitment from Tom and everyone involved. So when I was asked to be there in Limerick to support them I was more than delighted to join them for a few hours last Wednesday.

My good friend Alan Quinlan also lent a hand on the day. I asked him would he come along for two reasons; I know that the cause is very close to his heart and people would have seen Alan on the Late Late Show talking about how more aware people should be of depression and mental illness. Also, Alan is great craic and can handle himself on a tractor.

It was a great day and I would urge you to support them if they are passing through your town.
